Job description

Title: Electrical Mechanical Service Engineer
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum DOE
Location: Norwich, Norfolk

Brief Outline: This role involves electrical installations, maintenance, and fault diagnosis related to pumping systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Install, service, diagnose faults, and maintain clean and dirty water systems.
  • Maintain vehicles, plant, and equipment.
  • Respond to customer breakdowns at both clean and dirty water sites.
  • Service pumps and conduct electrical tests on pumps upon completion.
  • Support apprentice development through shadowing and supervised learning.
  • Assist with workshop duties, including dismantling and assembling pump units.
  • Manage weekend/evening emergency callouts on a rota with other engineers.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times.

Skills Needed:

  • Electrical and mechanical support of installations in commercial and domestic environments.
  • Experience in servicing, fault diagnosis, maintenance, and response to breakdowns in clean and dirty water systems.
  • Conduct electrical testing and certification of electrical circuits.
  • Read panel drawings and understand control equipment.
  • Provide technical support to customers and staff.
  • Work according to recognised industry standards.
  • Assist other trades as and when required.
  • Manage and support projects from inception to completion.
  • Maintain all project documentation up-to-date.
  • Support the Manager with various duties as needed.
  • Strong working knowledge of BS7671 (essential).
  • Working knowledge of pipework installations and pumps (desirable).

Training/Qualifications Needed:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in AM2, testing, inspection, and certification of electrical circuits.
  • 18th Edition qualified.
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification.
  • Trailer licence.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Current CSCS / ECS card.
  • Confined Spaces training (desirable).
  • Organised and methodical approach to work.
  • Good level of physical fitness.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience.

Further Job Information:

  • Standard 39-hour week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Occasional overnight stays.
  • Salary to be discussed at the interview stage, dependent on qualifications and experience.

This is a full-time, permanent position, subject to a three-month probation period, with the role becoming permanent thereafter.
