Cooper Lomaz are exclusively working with a scientific organisation with a rapidly expanding research and development team in Cambridge who are seeking a new Software Developer on a permanent basis initially fixed for 2 years. We are seeking an innovative software developer to work with our clients scientific/research team to develop a new database for a product certification project.
Based at in Cambridge (once the team return to the office) the role entails working in a mixed programming-language environment, implementing workflows between in-house systems and you will have a particular strength in developing software utilising APIs and JSON and noSQL databases. The software created will be used to provide a solution for management of a certification systems both internally and externally. Applications will have demonstrable problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills along with an ability to interact with the team to gain an understanding of the technical, administrative and statutory requirements for the system will be a key skill.
The work involves working through the whole lifecycle, looking at the current system, seeing what can be pulled from that system and then implementing a new version with improved functionality. A simple example would be creating a new modern frontend with additional features to give external customers the ability to see where they are in the process. You will have experience with Java,ORM, NoSQL, SQL, RESTful APIs and experience with web development, containerisation/microservices and agile development techniques is desirable. Candidates should have at least one year's development experience and be able to demonstrate proficiency in statistical programming, OOP and SQL.
