Cooper Lomaz are pleased to be working exclusively with a firm of commercial property consultants based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

The Property Management Accountant is responsible for the effective client accounting of a portfolio of managed commercial estates. The Property Management Accountant is a vital part of the team, working closely with the Property Management Team. The role will require regular interaction with clients and external accountants. This is an exciting role which will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to grow.

Responsibilities
In all areas, you will need to ensure that company policies and procedures are consistently applied to the required standards, delivering on time and with a high degree of accuracy. Duties include but are not limited to:
•Prepare end of year service charge accounts within agreed timeframe, before submitting to Property Manager and external Accountants for review
•Ensure annual service charge budgets are accurate, loaded correctly to software with correct apportionments & billing set up correctly
•Periodic billing of service charges, ground rent and other charges to tenants
•Monthly & quarterly bank reconciliations
•Produce quarterly management reports, for review with Property Managers and clients. Analyse the service charge expenditure v budget, arrears and cashflow position, producing a summary report
•Monitor the general health and correctness of the service charge accounts associated with the portfolio, supporting Property Managers with relevant information
•Utilities and insurance recharging to tenants
•Client VAT reports
•Answer tenant / client enquiries in a timely fashion
•Handle referred tenant service charge queries to resolution via either telephone or e-mail, or escalate to relevant Property Manager
•Following up actions from property management meetings
•Assist the Property Management team with day to day & adhoc duties

Skills & Experience Required
Experience
•1+ years in accounts environment
•AAT qualified
•Experience in service charge accounting and client accounting is advantageous


Skills
•Excellent time management, prioritisation and diary management
•Excellent numeracy/analytical skills and competency in dealing with financial information
•Excellent communication skills - letter writing and the written and verbal presentation of information
•Excellent computer skills - proficient in all Microsoft, particularly Excel, and competent in mail merging.
•Excellent Team Working - ability to build working relationships with landlords, tenants and employees across the company.
