Top candidates are now receiving multiple offers as hiring returns to pre-recession levels. While great for candidates, many employers are taking notice of the scarcity of candidates in certain industries and are taking steps to limit the effects on their businesses. 

Industry reports suggest that 65% of UK finance leaders have observed an increase in employers counter offering candidates who handed in their resignation letters in the last year.

While employers see counter offers as a way to retain talent, the reality is often different. Industry reports suggest that over half of employees who accept a counter offer leave within the next 2 years. Furthermore, employees who accept counter offers often find themselves left out of so-called ‘inner circles’ and viewed as flight risks.
