An interview with Dan Benson, Cooper Lomaz Energy Team Leader

A need for mechanical and electrical engineers is the common link between all  sectors of the energy industry in
East Anglia at the moment, with  demand close to outstripping supply.

As a result of the oil and gas decommissioning programme  involving 60 installations in the  Southern North Sea, and with at least two large offshore wind projects moving into the construction phase during the next 12/18 months, this is going to remain a competitive, candidate driven marketplace for the foreseeable future.

If the proposed Sizewell C nuclear power plant is consented, there will be even more opportunities for engineers in East Anglia. Bio-Mass power generation is now a reality and just the other day I was asked the question: Will fracking come to East Anglia?

With the latest statistics telling us  that there is a 40% year-on-year rise in engineering positions in East Anglia, the energy sector really does provide a golden opportunity.
