We’ve previously reported on the East Anglian Devolution Deal and the fact that the proposal is now for two separate deals – one for Norfolk & Suffolk, and one for Cambridge and Peterborough.

The proposed deal was published on 17th June and since then, all of the councils in Suffolk along with most in Norfolk, as well as New Anglia LEP have endorsed the deal.

As there is no unanimous decision coming from our local councils, there is now a public consultation which any local person, business or organisation is able to vote in, in order to have your say over whether you think we should go ahead with the deal.

The Devolution Deal would be great for Norfolk and Suffolk as it would mean that our councils will have direct control of more than £1billion of funding which will enable the creation of 95,000 new jobs by 2026. It would also be used to build more homes and help provide employees with skills that businesses need. This will be a truly local and unique approach to regional growth, putting the power of budgets in the hands of the people who know the region, instead of centrally from Westminister.
