Following the success of the CLR Academy in 2017, this year the plan was simple. Do the same, but make it bigger and better! With the business looking to grow significantly going into 2019, the decision was made to run another Academy, but this time to have the programme running across both our Norwich and Bury St Edmunds offices.

Last Monday, 5 new Resourcers joined the business in the Academy, which is a 7-week induction programme where aspiring Recruiters receive all of the initial training and support needed, whilst shadowing our experienced Resourcers and Recruitment Consultants to give them the best start possible to their new career.

The programme, designed and run by Business Improvement Manager, Michael Meyer, is full of hands-on exercises, classroom-based training and shadowing before starting the job proper.

Michael said “The Academy is definitely the highlight of my year. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a group of individuals with no recruitment experience develop into a team of great Recruiters. This year the quality of people we interviewed and put through the Assessment Day was extremely high, and I’m delighted with the 5 people who have joined the business. They’ve really impressed me with the way they taken the training on board, and started putting it into practice, with some great calls being made.”

Today sees the members of the Academy assigned to an experienced Consultant, where they will support them on one of their live positions. Whilst learning the theory-side of the role is vitally important, nothing will replace learning on the job, which is the next step of their development.

The Academy members, who will spend until Christmas on the programme, have the opportunity of a lifetime to start a career in recruitment, in the right way. So far they’ve most definitely grasped the opportunity with both hands.
