Job description

Customer Software Support Engineer We are exclusively working with a growing team based in Cambridge who are seeking a Customer Support Engineer to provide app support for a large user community. This is for a permanent fixed-term contract through to the end of 2020. Depending on the person and the growth of the business, there may be the possibility of staying with the company after that but the initial role is supporting software during a transitional period. You will quickly become an expert in the use of the application on both Android, Apple, and Wearables. You will be providing customer support to customers by email, telephone and via social media and queries are a mix of pre-sales, installation, basic usage, and more involved technical questions. The role will require the successful candidate to be supporting a range of global users where English may not be their first language and you will need to clearly convey technical resolutions or training to solve the issue. Where time allows, then there is the opportunity to get involved with app testing and QA, marketing, or other relevant activities of the business. Requirements: • Covering some weekends, some evenings, and some holidays, pattern to be agreed. This role will complement and work closely with our existing Customer Support Engineer. • Based in Cambridge office. • An additional language is desirable. • This is not a call centre scripted job. You need technical ability and initiative. You will cover first line questions, but cope with many second line questions too. You will be challenged. • Technically capable • Able to troubleshoot a computer and a mobile phone • A real interest in, and familiarity with, technology • Able to take an app or software, find the way around its main features without assistance • Ability to investigate and understand issues • Clear communicator • Able to explain technical things to completely non-technical people
