Purpose of the role
Supporting the Engineering function, working under limited supervision, carry out technical document management and ERP business system tasks in support of new product introduction and engineering change requirements.
In support of new business and product change/enhancement, create new parts/product configurations in IFS in a timely manner, ensuring they are processed through the approval process to completion in a timely manner.
In support of the document revision control process, submit engineering change requests (ECRs) for approval, and monitor them through the approval process to ensure completion in a timely manner. Upon approval, create engineering change orders (ECOs) and update part numbers and BOMs in IFS as required.
Update bills of materials (BOMs), and other controlled documents in line with engineering part and product improvements, communicating effectively with all necessary departments.
Complying with the engineering change process, maintain electronic document revision control using the document management software (Autodesk Vault).
Maintain the support request log to ensure that business requests are documented appropriately and in a timely manner, whilst escalating urgent matters as necessary.
Fully participate in the daily customer services review meeting, to communicate engineering department updates as required.
Collaborate and communicate effectively across all business functions in support of the role.
Follow all defined internal processes, procedures, and standards. Participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
Respond to change productively and handle any other assigned duties.
Education & Experience
Relevant administrative experience, preferably in an engineering or technical environment, with documentation control and support. Experience of ERP systems, and document management software.
A good standard of education with a minimum of GCSE, Grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English.
Knowledge & Skills
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills, verbal and written
High levels of attention to detail
Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret relevant information
Engineering background with knowledge of general engineering practices
Ability to use CAD (Autodesk AutoCAD/Inventor)
Knowledge of ‘IFS9’ ERP software
